Boat Fishing at Whitby. Whitby Charters Skipper Association

After a quiet start to April fishing came on with a bang around mid month and has continued well ever since. Currently the water is heavy with algae in places but once your away from the May water algae it seems like your into the fish. Paul on sea otter 2 is reporting some top fishing on shads with over a 100 cod per day being taken at times. Paul has also recently reported some better pollock and had one this week to almost 15 pounds.
Paul Eddon on Trot on says his catches have been decent too. The best day so far being about 2 weeks ago when one of his anglers recorded over 9 stone for the day again most of the fish falling to shads an jelly tails which seem to be outfishing any other method at the current time.
Rich Ward on Shytorque has had many fish well into double figures and says he is looking forward to running shark trips again this summer after catching the ports first porbeagle last summer.
Sea spray has been doing well on the cod front but has also been experimenting with diverse species of late. Skipper Mal Pitman is currently targeting Turbot and rays and says he has free places for Tope and shark trips throughout the summer months.
All in all catches have been decent since the middle of April. The May water algae has posed a few problems but all the boats are reporting decent catches dispite this.

A fine day on Trot on Charters Whitby

More good cod for Paul Kilpatrick on sea otter 2 at Whitby
