Chieftain Charters Whitby boat fishing trip - lots of cod - What a fantastic trip

The trip started on the 23 june 2006 Boarding the Chieftain charter boat At Whitby.

Chieftain / Cheiftain charters fishing trip. The boat left the pier ends at exactly 1pm steaming out to a wreck. we
finally reached the chosen wreck at 6am the following day (thats right 17
hours travelling) John Brennan the skipper had told us that we were 155 miles from
whitby and told us right o lads down you go.
So down all 12 anglers went to the bottom (not very deep either) only about
40 metres! I can't vouch for the rest of the anglers but i only got to the
bottom and was just about to start jigging and the rod bent over and over
and over and over!!!!I thought i'd got a decent fish on but when i got it
to the surface it turned out to be 4 big whitby cod - 37 pound in total!!! what was
happening was that the first fish was taking the pirk starting a frenzy with
the other fish and they followed suit with the muppetts!!!! I was too
busy to be looking around at everybody elses but every time i looked around
on my way back down to the bottom there were fish coming up either side of
me, and so it went on for about 2 hours until a ling came aboard, we gave it
one more drift after that and moved on to another wreck and it all began
again!!!! 10 - 15 - 20 pounders coming aboard and the biggest that I saw
was a 24 pounder by a barnsley lad on the back of the boat. our fishing
team had several 10lbers (2+3 a drop) 15s and 20s also. we ended up doing
about 40 stone of fillets between our team of for lads (which roughly
equates to around 80 stone of cod on the bone. It really was a top days angling aboard the Whitby charter boat Chieftain. I would recommend the boat to anyone who reads this.
